iOS 27 Was Built for the Duo
Apple says iOS 27 adapts specifically to Duo’s folding design.
Controls, navigation, the Dock, Home Screen behavior, alerts, and other elements have been changed to take advantage of the available screen space.
The Phone Reacts When You Fold It
One interesting part of the design is that the software can adapt as the device folds.
Apple says content can reorient and switch to the appropriate display depending on how the device is being used.
That’s impressive.
But it can also be confusing the first few times.
The Home Screen May Feel Different
On the open Duo display, Apple says users can have two Home Screen pages with Today View available as a vertically scrolling list of customizable widgets.
That’s a lot of information in one place.
The Dynamic Island Has Changed Too
Apple says the Dynamic Island was redesigned for Duo’s displays, with Live Activities and alerts adapting to the new layout.
So if you’re upgrading from an older iPhone, don’t be surprised if something isn’t exactly where you remember it.
