This is one of the most common printer frustrations.
Yesterday:
Print → Worked
Today:
Print → Nothing
The printer hasn’t moved.
The computer hasn’t changed.
So what happened?
Technology Can Lose Its Connection
Wireless devices sometimes stop communicating correctly even though everything appears normal.
Your HP printer might still turn on.
Your computer might still have internet.
But the connection between them may no longer be working correctly.
Start With What Changed
Ask yourself:
Did the router restart?
Did the power go out?
Did Windows update?
Did you change the Wi-Fi password?
Did somebody move the printer?
Did the printer lose its network connection?
Did you install a new security program?
Even a small change can matter.
Look at the Printer Before Assuming It Is Broken
If the printer powers on normally, check what it says on its display.
Is it showing:
Ready
Offline
Connection Problem
Paper Jam
Low Ink
or another message?
Write down the exact wording.
That can be much more useful than saying:
“My printer doesn’t work.”
And Please Don’t Hit “Reset” Just Because You’re Frustrated
Resetting devices can sometimes remove settings that you need.
Before resetting an important device, understand what the reset will actually do.
